Adjunct A/Professor Patsy Tremayne

Patsy Tremayne

Dr Patsy Tremayne is a performance psychologist who has a private practice specificallyfocusing on performance enhancement for accredited medical trainees who need to study and pass major exams under often difficult and stressful conditions. She works with doctors around Australia and NZ from all the major specialties. Her PhD in Psychophysiology from the University of NSW has been particularly useful in helping doctors to study smarter through the optimal use of the brain. The key is learning to practise under pressure to perform on demand Patsy still does research as an Adjunct A/Professor in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology at Western Sydney University. She is also the first female sport and exercise psychologist to practise in Australia, having gained her qualifications in the USA.

Dr David Auyong

Dr David Auyong is a Staff Anesthesiologist, Department of Anesthesiology Medical Director, Lindeman Ambulatory Surgery Center Section Head, Orthopedic Anesthesiology Chair, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Guiding Team Virginia Mason Medical Center, Seattle, WA. His special interests include regional anesthesia, ultrasound guided regional anesthesia and continuous peripheral nerve blockade.

Dr Ivan Rapchuk

Dr Ivan Rapchuk is Co-Clinical Chair of the Queensland Statewide Anaesthesia and Perioperative Care Clinical Network (SWAPNet). Fellowship trained in Canada and Australia in cardiothoracic anaesthesia/perioperative TOE and regional anaesthesia/acute pain management. He is the director of the Acute Pain Management Service and Pre-anaesthetic Clinic at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.

RN Heather Gunter

Heather works as a District Nurse for the Nelson Marlborough DHB NZ. She also presents ‘Matt’s Story’ at Adverse Events Seminars for the Health Quality & Safety Commission and is a Consumer Representative for ‘Korero Mai’, the escalation program of deteriorating patients for Family/Whanau. She is also a Consumer Representative for Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for the Prevention of Treatment Injury and is presently speaking at hospitals around NZ about ‘Matt’s Story’ with ACC.

Professor Guy Ludbrook

Professor Guy Ludbrook

Dr Guy Ludbrook is Professor of Anaesthesia at the University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital. His expertise covers neuropharmacology, medical devices, anaesthesia, clinical trials, anaesthetic and analgesic drugs, drug delivery and health services. He is published widely in scientific literature with a particular focus on pharmacology and is involved in the planning and management of many early phase pharmacological trials, including first-in-human trials of anaesthetic and analgesic drugs.

Dr Robert Barnett

Dr Robert Barnett

Dr Barnett is Director of Intensive Care at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside. He is a Fellow of both ANZCA and The College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand. While working as Director of Medical Services over 10 years, he developed an interest in identifying and managing the deteriorating patient. This led to the development of preoperative screening and postoperative monitoring systems being implemented in the hospital. He is particularly interested in managing high risk patients using screening and advanced but simple monitoring and the use of rapid response teams to manage the inevitable patient that isn’t identified until at significant risk of permanent harm.
